Ken has been working as a film and telvision professional for over three decades.
​
Starting out in 1980 he joined a major Toronto post production facility and over a period of 10 years honed his craft working on a wide variety of commercials, documentaries, dramatic and comedy series eventually becoming one of the most sought after senior staff editors.
​
In the early 90's he became a freelance editor and added his talents as an Off-Line editor on several television series such as Zoboomafoo, Mission Genesis, Divorce Court, five seasons of Katts & Dog; and two seasons of White Fang in New Zealand. He also did On-Line editing for broadcasters like The Comedy Network, CTV, and YTV.

In 1999 Ken moved to Halifax, NS and was contracted by Salter Street Digital as On-Line Editor and Colourist on TV series such as: Lexx, Made in Canada, The Awful Truth, Blackfly and films such as Parsley Days, Blessed Stranger: After Flight 111 and The Event. Ken also contributed his off-line and on-line skills to award winning animated children’s series and many documentaries and TV Specials.

In 2010 Ken switched to working mostly for independent producers as a freelance Off and On-Line Editor/Colourist on a variety of dramas, docs and series such as Forensic Firsts and Main Street Mysteries for Story House Productions; Here I Am- Denny Doherty and The Mamas & Papas and Remedy Me!, for Creative Atlantic; Dreamwrecks and Marine Machines for Arcadia Entertainment; Shadow Hunter, To Catch A Killer and The Halifax Explosion for Ocean Entertainment; That’s So Weird and 22 Minutes for DHX Media; Lunenburg-Where the Land Meets the Sea and Growing Sense for Telltale Productions Inc.

Most recently Ken has been working as an Off-Line Editor for the CBC doc series Land and Sea, produced both independently by Creative Atlantic Communications and Tell Tale Productions and in house at the CBC. He has also done web content for CBC Radios' East Coast Music Hour and three seasons of Reel East Coast for the Atlantic Film Festival.

Ken has his own professional service company, Petersen Post Productions Inc., providing comprehensive post-production services to the broadcast industry. He also co-founded Vital Scenes Productions Inc. to produce social and environmental films and Ken’s personal commitment to the environment is reflected in his role as co-founder of the not-for-profit Whale Stewardship Project.

Ken is a member of the Director’s Guild of Canada Atlantic region.
